I started this class in august having written only three papers in my highschool career. I was actually quite terrified upon the start of the year because I was just so inexperienced. I knew I enjoyed all of my previous English classes and often excelled in grammar and other English topics, however my writing skills were definitely not at a college level.
Me being the perfectionist I am, knew from the start that I was going to have to give 100% in my attempts to obtain my usual A average. Through these two semesters I have learned more about composition than ever before. I have perfected my thesis sentence construction, completed the longest essay I have EVER written, and overall feel well rounded as both a highschool English student and a college English student. Currently, I'm still trying to decide on my college major. Now having taken this class, I have a new perspective on perhaps majoring in journalism. I suppose writing eight essays in a year has peaked my interest in the field! There are not many things that I truly enjoy doing, but now I feel as though writing is one of my fortes. I have learned to express my creativity in fresh innovative ways through exploring my mind to find “good words” and interesting ideas and viewpoints that at one time I did not know existed.
I would like to thank you for always encouraging me in this class and always being so very kind. After a long day of tedious trigonometry and wearisome biology, coming into this class was such a joy. (And NO! not just due to the fact that I was allowed to leave early!) Your class has definitely prepared me for actual college and I cannot thank you enough for being such a wonderful teacher. I will never forget all that I have learned in this class and I am SO thankful I had such a lovely, kind, beautiful teacher to be a part of my last year in high school.
